Values are like pillars that hold the social structure up. Educational institutions serve as a bridge in the transfer of values between the society and its members. Therefore, values should be taken into account in educational practices to help individuals acquire social values. Children can be given values education with the help of various methods and techniques. Children’s literature makes major contributions to the acquisition of values in children’s education. Values that children are desired to learn can be transferred more easily and quickly through poems. Thus, this study aimed to examine the values in children’s poems in the editions of the Turkish Children’s Magazine Gürbüz (Turkish title: Gürbüz Türk Çocuğu Dergisi) published between 1928 and 1930. The study used a qualitative descriptive research design. The results of the analysis of the poems showed that the most commonly addressed value is diligence, and the least commonly addressed value is sharing. The analysis results also showed that the values of love, patriotism, and saving are treated to a great extent in the poems, while the values of courtesy, self-confidence, altruism, humility, and responsibility are treated to a lesser extent. This study found that the poems published in Turkish Children’s Magazine Gürbüz addressed a large variety and percentage of values. It can thus be said that poems have rich content in terms of values education
