This research aims to evaluate the comprehension of Kutadgu Bilig by the students of the Turkish Language and Literature department. Within the scope of the research, a “Written Question Form” containing 15 Kutadgu Bilig couplets was applied to 20 fourth-grade students studying in the Turkish Language and Literature department at a state university in Turkiye, and the answers given to the questions were analyzed through content analysis.
At the end of the research, most of the fourth-grade students of the Turkish Language and Literature department, who were interested in old Turkish works and those who were not, either miscomprehended these 15 Kutadgu Bilig couplets or stated that they did not know their meanings.
Most of the students who intended to receive postgraduate education and those who did not, as well as the students with a GPA of 3.00 and above and below 3.00 either miscomprehended the 15 Kutadgu Bilig couplets or stated that they did not know their meanings. There were no students who correctly comprehended the 15 Kutadgu Bilig couplets given in the Written Question Form.
